In a village near a sparkling river, there lived a clever crow named Karataka. He loved to collect shiny objects and store them in his cozy nest.
Karataka's best friend was a wise old owl named Vibhishana. They would spend hours watching the sunset together, discussing their dreams and adventures.
One day, while out exploring, Karataka spotted a beautiful jug filled with cool water hanging from a tree branch. He thought to himself, "Ah, what a perfect container! I'll take it back to my nest and keep it safe."
Karataka tried his best to fly up to the jug, but it was too heavy for him. He flapped his wings and hopped on one foot, trying to lift it with his beak. But no matter how hard he tried, the jug wouldn't budge.
As the sun began to set, Karataka's friend Vibhishana landed next to him, curious about what was happening. "Karataka, my dear friend," asked Vibhishana, "why are you struggling with that jug? Why not ask for help?"
But Karataka was too proud to admit defeat. He thought, "No, no! I can do this on my own!" So he continued to try and lift the jug by himself.
The next morning, a group of villagers saw Karataka still stuck under the tree branch, trying to lift the jug with his beak. They couldn't help but laugh at the sight. Vibhishana flew over to them and whispered, "Please, friends, help my dear friend here."
Together, the villagers lifted the jug and placed it safely on the ground. Karataka was relieved, but also a bit embarrassed.
As they all sat under the tree, sipping cool water from the jug, Vibhishana spoke up, "Karataka, my friend, sometimes we must ask for help when we need it. Trying to do everything alone can lead to trouble."
The villagers nodded in agreement, and Karataka looked at his friend with newfound respect. From that day on, whenever he needed assistance, he didn't hesitate to ask.
And so, the story of Karataka and the jug of water spread throughout the village, reminding everyone that teamwork and humility are just as important as cleverness and strength.
