A dog and a rooster, who were close companions, desired to explore the world beyond the farm. Together, they embarked on a journey along the road leading to the woods. The two friends traveled cheerfully, encountering no remarkable adventures.
As night approached, the rooster, seeking a place to rest, spotted a suitable hollow tree. The dog could shelter inside, while the rooster could perch on one of the branches. They both slept comfortably.
At daybreak, the rooster woke up and, momentarily disoriented, crowed as if still in the farmyard, where it was accustomed to rouse the household at dawn. The crowing, however, did not awaken the farmer but rather a fox nearby in the woods. The fox, envisioning a delightful breakfast, hastened to the tree and politely greeted the rooster, expressing eagerness to befriend him.
The rooster cleverly responded, "I'm honored by your warm welcome. If you would kindly go to the door of my house at the base of the tree, my attendant will let you in."
The hungry but unsuspecting fox followed the rooster's directions and, in an instant, the dog had captured the fox.
